“Over 50 years ago, some of the best golfers of the world walked the green acres of The Overlook. Fifty years later, Kevin Kilgore, stood on his property, with a dream to transform a historical site that was once home to some of the best golfers of the world, to the University of Houston golf team, and the NCAA Regional golf tournament. Kevin kept the dream alive- the high ceilings, the original mahogany wood doors, and the beautiful, mahogany bar.

Walking in, you takeaway, what is the most undeniably, nostalgic feel of the past. Everything worth doing takes work. The stylist, Carolyn of Sweet Tea & Linen, ultimate inspiration was the history built around the venue. The venue went through so many obstacles before it could finally find it’s rightful owner. It was the perfect juxtaposition of modern and old world. The Moscow Mule was a popular drink before the groovy generation in the 60s.

The classic look of the bride in her Vera Wang dress and the original bar of the once country club in the 50s only made the idea of the Moscow Mule beyond a doubt perfect for the shoot; it added a fun twist to the traditional history of the country club.

Carolyn designed a ceremony cite in between the exterior of the venue with white drapes and white columns to compliment the Vera Wang dress and the craftsmanship of the exterior. She consciously, wanted the guest to overlook the lake, the well crafted bridge, and the greenery of the golf course.

The navy blue, the copper, the deep reds, and greens work well for the fall season, but also represent an idea of elegance and tradition.

The bride, Melanie, will actually be on her way down the aisle on Wednesday, September 9th, overlooking the beautiful Newport beach in California. We are truly excited that we were able to do this shoot, especially to share an amazing experience with a new bride.”
