New York Yellow and Grey DIY Wedding by Lennon Photo
Congrats to Melissa Fields & Michael Devlin who tied the knot in East Setauket, NY! Such a beautiful DIY Yellow and Grey wedding to get your Monday off to a perfect start! Thanks to Lennon Photo who captured it all beautifully and is sharing with you all today.
“It POURED rain. Two inches of rain and still the group was amazingly upbeat and fun. Why not? Melissa and Michael really wanted to throw an amazing party for their family and friends to simply enjoy and rain was not a factor. Melissa had an ambitious DIY green thumb and even Michael’s cigar bar was a big part of the wedding scape! The Groom and his wedding party (along with their dads) all wore yellow Vineyard Vines ties with different patterns. They also all wore matching Vineyard Vines pocket squares. Melissa’s ModCloth shoes were fun, bright and perfect for a rainy day. Rain or Shine, who cares! Everyone had a blast!” – Lennon Photo

Michael and I both met each other at a restaurant we both worked at. After both leaving our jobs at the restaurant, a few years later we re-met at the same restaurant purely by chance. We’ve been together ever since.
We chose Long Island because that’s where I grew up. I couldn’t see myself getting married anywhere else. After Mike and I had dated for a few years, college ended and I had moved back to Long Island from Connecticut. We used to take the Port Jeff ferry every weekend to see each other. We basically lived on that ferry for a year so it was special to us to have our wedding in Port Jefferson, a town we’ve spend so much time in together.
“DIY is not only cost effective, it’s fun! I love creating things. I sometimes find myself searching the internet for ideas and saying to myself “I can totally make that!” It’s rewarding to hear people come up to you and say “Where did you get these?” and you can respond with “I made them!” Everything was made by either myself or my mom and we had a blast creating everything together!
I have 2 pieces of advice for Brides that are thinking about creating the decorations for your wedding. Take your time and stay organized.” – The Bride
